Kosabei is one of the best Kenyan tea gardens. The high grade black tea Kosabei TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) is quite outstanding. It features a depth of flavor, yet it is very gentle with only a mild astringency and has a pleasant mouthfeel. Like other amazing Kenyan teas this tea can stand well on its own with its notes of malt and current, but can also take milk very well.
Steeping Instructions: use one teaspoon of leaves for every 8 fl oz 212°F/100°C water; steep for 3-7 minutes.
Suggestion(s): Wonderful on its own. Milk and sugar complement this tea well.
Per 2 oz tea, you get approximately 20 cups of tea. Contains caffeine.
Fun Fact: Black Tea is called Red Tea in many Asian languages. In many Western languages the name comes from the tea leaves. The tea leaves for black tea are highly oxidized, resulting in the very dark, often black color, hence the name black tea. In many Asian languages the name comes from the color of the steeped leaves, which brews into beautiful red or coppery hues depending on the type, hence the name red tea (hóngchá (紅茶) in Mandarin, kōcha (紅茶) in Japanese, or Hongcha (홍차) in Korean.
